Description

I'm taking a bit of a break from studying for a while, sign. I so much hate these re-exams I have to do (Have I already told you guys about my re-exams being a week earlier than I'd expected, it sucks). Learning for them is just repitition all over and it's driving me mad! AARGGH! And then maths, so much maths *sobs*

Anyways, I made kind of refsheetthings for Aldrin and some other bugs from my cartoon a while ago. Because of fun and because I really needed to learn how to draw snailhouses. Anyways, here they are, at last.

I'll put the rest up once I've got the tekst done, end of this week, probably
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Name: Aldrin

Species: Helix Aspersa (garden snail)

Age (human years): 53

Gender: Both? (referred to as male)

History

For generations, Aldrin’s family roamed the local cabbage fields. Year after year they did nothing but eat. So when Aldrin was born, he must have obviously thought that his life would be like that. Cabbage, three meals a day, a good life for a snail.

But of course his family’s lifestyle had an impact, and over the years, the farmer on whose terrain they roamed grew, well, annoyed. Furious even. So one day when he once again found his cabbages bare to the stems, he snapped.

Despite being a biological farmer he had bought pesticides. Harmless, they said, not radioactive, they said. Nonsense, of course.

When Aldrin woke up again after being swallowed into that terrible cloud of doom he immediately noticed some things had gone very wrong. He wasn’t on the cabbage fields anymore, at first, and this new place was strange and alien to him, despite having cabbages, thank god.

Also suddenly possessing human intelligence took some getting used to.

Fortunately, Aldrin still possesses the snail’s extreme patience and ability to stay calm in the most endearing of situations. Wasn’t it for his actions, he and his counterparts would have surely ended up in a laboratory somewhere. But instead they now life in the biological food store where they had been delivered, drugged and stunned among the cabbages.

Nowadays he acts as a sort of spokesman. Communicating on behalf of the tiny bug population with the owners and staff of the ‘Nieuweweg’. He’s grown quite fond of the humans, and they of him. Though of course they’re still hideous, but hey, what else could be expected of mammals, after all.

Anatomy

Despite being loads bigger than his fellow not-mutated snails Aldrin has another couple of traits that set him apart. He has a sort of, well what are they, arm flaps? Probably just folds of his body, but they work fine for him, despite lacking anything remotely resembling digits.

Then there’s his house. The other bugs still haven’t managed to figure out how that house of him works and whether it’s actually a house on the inside, with rooms and such. Some suspect it might be bigger on the inside.

He has eyes on stalks, like the traditional snail, even though he wears glasses on his head. A lot of other bugs are confused by this, but really, he doesn’t have eyes there. It’s more of a fashion statement, thing…

Personality

Aldrin, being the oldest of the Nieuweweg bugs, is often asked for advice on various things. He’s patient and friendly and will always try to help. Sometimes his advice is kind of sloppy though, or it backfires. But hey, no one is perfect.

His patience isn’t always that of a saint either. He can get annoyed with the youngsters every now and then. They’re just way too energetic for their own good and he really doesn’t get this ‘fast life’ thing. O well, they’ll grow up one day. Or so he hopes…

Despite lacking the ability to run away, Aldrin is not often frightened. After all, what’s the use of adrenaline if you can’t do the "fight or flight" thing? He tends to go for the careful approach. Talking things out, waiting on the sideline and carefully observing. The boring things, so to say. But Aldrin is not only rather smart, but also has this equally boring thing called ‘wisdom of age’ or something. I’m not really sure about it myself, but it has kept him out of trouble somehow.
