The Pond

It turned out they ate fireflies.
The creatures would swarm over the pond everyday at dusk, in gorgeous displays of light and movement. Dashing down and drinking from the water.
The frogs, lurking beneath the surface, would strike, stirring the swarm. She said it was quite a display. 
The remaining night the frogs would sing. The fireflies trapped in their mouths shimmering with every tune, sending their light across the water, dancing over the waves. 
At dawn, the frog that had given the best show, the most gorgeous display of both light and sound, would get to mate the female. 
There was only one female in the pond. She was hardly ever seen. 
"Are they magical?" I'd asked the bird. 
She'd laughed, "not this time. Not all things this pretty are magical."
Everyday at dawn the frogs would open their mouths, freeing the fireflies. So that they'd be back at dusk for another round of lights and music.

This is purely an experiment. I guess. I'm not sure if I like how much movement is going on in the picture. But at least it's something different for once.

This drawing is based on the dream/thought/vision thing I had when I tried to meditate a while ago. Mostly out of curiosity. I'm not very spiritually talented (is that a thing?) and to be honest I might have just fallen asleep halfway. It was still rather pretty
